This is a review of Avene’s SPF 50 sunscreen/cream for the face. It is a suncreen that I bought when overseas in Europe and can’t be found in Australia on the shelves as we have a maximum 30 SPF policy. Avene do have a 30 SPF product available here but I haven’t tried that yet. This review is confined to the higher SPF variety from france, unfortunately I don’t yet know if it is similar or the same as the local variety.
This is pretty much the only sunscreen product I have been able to tolerate on bare skin, even the skin on my face with nothing underneath it to protect the skin. Usually If I apply a sunscreen it …

Skin creams containing retin-a are one of the most effective anti-aging products out there, however they can be problematic to use and can cause irritation; especially if you have sensitive skin. The thing about retin-a is that it not only improves the appearance of wrinkles, it also improves skin tone and quality by rejuvenating the outer layer of skin, which is why i wanted to try it. It is even apparently good at reducing the size of pores. My skin sometimes looks dull and there is some discoloration on my cheeks from sun damage (and eczema) over the years so I gave this a go. At this point I must stress that if you have active eczema (or rosacea) on …

B.B creams are a new kind of all-in-one cream from Korea. BB stands for blemish balm, although these creams tend to be more like a cream or a foundation than a balm. By all-in-one they are meant to 1. moisturize the skin 2. while covering like a foundation and 3. providing sun protection 4. heal acne and 5. anti-aging care. They also claim to lighten the skin tone, but I think that is mostly through the make up coverage and perhaps by helping to heal redness as well. BB creams are also formulated to be gentle to sensitive skin; the story goes that they were designed for use after laser resurfacing procedures. Missha seems to be one of the top …

I have been wanting to try mineral make-up for quite some time now. I think I’ve been put off by it appearing in so many infomercials and ads, all the hype just seemed too good to be true and I found it hard to believe that something so sheer could provide sun protection. Well, recently I caved because I found a good bargain on the bare minerals starter kit. I picked it up for $40 which is nearly half the RR price and for three brushes and 4 colors it works out to be quite cheap compared to other brands. I got it a few days ago so I have only been using it for a little while. Even …

I have sensitive skin on my face that reacts badly to most sunscreens, even ones specifically designed for the face. My skin gets red and at worst can flare up into nasty itchy dermatitis if I use normal skin care products. Kiehl’s Abyssine cream with SPF 23 is the first sunscreen product I’ve used that not only protects my skin from the sun but also appears to make it less sensitive.
I first tried this cream after I bought it in the Selfridges Department store on a trip to London a few years ago and have been using for at least a year now. In that time no new sunspots or freckles have appeared as the suncreen works its magic but …
