Most of the reviews I post here tend to be positive. When I find something good I want to share it, but if something doesn’t work too well for me (or if I have a bad reaction to it) I often assume that different people might not react in the same way. However, the same would apply to products I like – they might not be great for everyone. I am keeping this in mind as I review this cleanser and moisturizer from Ren (that has been great) as I have heard a few stories where it is not suitable for some people.
I decided to try both the Ren hydra-calming cleanser and day cream after a recommendation from a mecca …
The Clarins daily energizer cream and cleanser are made with young skin in mind – to refresh and tone the complexion. They are not the most hydrating products around and I would make the disclaimer that they are best suited to normal to oily skin types. That said they are lovely to use and really do make the skin feel fresh and rejuvenated. First up the cleanser is wonderful. It is a soft gel that lathers up a little and cleanses very thoroughly. The cream gel is more like a regular moisturizing cream than a gel although it is on the light side so the gel part is appropriate.

I’ve already done a review of aromacare naturally’s lavender face creams which you can view here. Despite being cautious about certain essential oils in skincare (i.e. lavender) I was pleasantly surprised at how gentle these creams are and they have been one of my fail-safe moisturizers since; ones that I use when my skin is a bit itchy or red looking and that I know will hydrate my skin and calm it down. I do recommend it, of course though, individuals can have different sensitivities to things and the way some people respond to essential oils may be different to me so bear that in mind. The same principal probably holds for citrus containing products. Citrus is a great cleansing …
Nutri Synergy make a foam free cream cleanser for very sensitive skin that is sodium laurel sulfate free and suitable for use when the skin is compromised. It is a soft feeling cleanser, and although it is foam free it does seem to lather nicely and clean well. Using this on broken or eczema inflicted skin is tolerable. There is minimal sting on broken skin and it does not exacerbate skin conditions. It is rather an effective cleanser for a SLS free one, and you will need to apply a moisturizer after use especially if using it to wash your face. As a facial cleanser this is very nice and gentle. I also love the smell, although it is technically …
Ah, good old Cetaphil! It has had a bit of a make over (or under if you like) but it is still a good friend of eczema sufferers all over. They are currently giving away
