I purchased this to wear at a wedding a few years ago and it was (and is) a beautiful eye shadow product. It can be either applied lightly for a sheer shimmer effect underneath or on top of other eye shadow colors or it can be used as a denser colour by patting it on to the eye lid with the applicator sponge rather than smearing it across the eye lid. There is one major disclaimer I have with this though; it stings! Although it didn’t sting at first, after a few months (even years I suppose) wearing this causes my eyelids to sting rather badly, so much so that I only can use it over thickly applied make up …
The chanel les 4 ombres (quadra) eye shadow range is a neat little black compact containing 4 perfect complementary (but varied) eye shadow shades. Each compact comes with two application brushes and a little faux suede pouch to put it in. Like their lipsticks, the main draw card for me with Chanel is their color pallets; they are very well considered. This particular one, nymphea stood out for me as it contains my four eyeshadow color regulars. Those are pink, green, brown and beige/golden. As you can see from the picture; this particular compact contains all of my favorite eyeshadow hues, and in very nice versions as well. One thing I like to do when picking a new eye shadow …
For the next few posts I’m going to do a Chanel make-up theme and review my top three make-up items from Chanel starting with their new coco rouge lipstick. The thing I love about this range are the colors available. They are mainly pinks and neutrals, my favorite lip colors. I don’t suit brights or dark lipsticks (think bright red or maroon shades) but almost every color in the coco rouge range seems to suit me, so of course I’m liking it for that reason. I actually ended up with the shade worn by Vanessa Paradis in the ads called “Mademoiselle”, number 05. When I first saw those ads I though “gee she looks smug” then I realized it was …
I have to admit, as far as luxury skin care brands go Chanel is my favorite. I’m a fan of their make up, although I’m a mineral makeup convert I still love their liquid foundations, especially with that ingenious nozzle that dispenses the perfect amount. The last time I purchased Chanel cosmetics (eye shadow and an illuminator to my recollection) I was given a sample of this lotion from their precision range. I am not a toner girl, because my skin is prone to dryness I usually find that toners dry and irritate my skin so I avoid them. This however I would not class as a toner, even though it has a similar functionality in refining skin tone and …
I believe skin care can and should be effective and affordable, so I don’t usually look into luxury brand skin care products. I do consider them when when they offer something a cheaper brand doesn’t, or when they actually turn out to be just as economical because I need to use less. The last point applies to the Chanel foundations I’ve tried. Anyway, I was given a sample of this day wear cream by Chanel, beauté initiale. It contains an SPF so it gets points for that. It also claims to give you a ‘healthy glow’. While not being heavily tinted there is a color to this cream which adds a sheen to your face. The smell is noticeable but …
