I’ve reviewed the Toleriane riche cream for dry skin previously and thought I’d add a review for the Toleriane lotion for normal-combinaiton skins that I have been using as well. I always use either of these toleriane creams in conjunction with the Cicaplast healing gel whenever I have an eczema break out because they never, ever cause even the slightest bit of irritation for me and the Cicalplast is almost as good as steroid creams at healing eczema. Basically my review for the riche version holds here, except I use the Toleriane riche cream when my skin is extra dry and the lotion for combination skin when it is on the oily side. This is usually a summer/winter …
A few months ago I started eating less and less vegetables – and you know what? I started getting cystic acne, the kind of acne that starts under the skin. There are two broad types of acne (by cause). One is the type of acne that you get from not cleansing the skin well enough and these pimples tend to emerge as blocked pores. Cystic acne on the other hand develops deep under the skin, is more painful and is caused by more internal factors such as diet, hormones and stress. There is one thing that is well known – vitamin A in large doses is an effective treatment against this type of internal acne. In fact the prescribed …
I have quite an interesting product to review today, it’s actually a gel containing flakes of pure silver for use in controlling oily skin and acne. While reviewing this antibacterial and oil balancing gel by Ayurda I thought I’d take the opportunity to also post a bit of interesting information about it’s primary ingredient as it has a long and colourful history. Silver is known to pretty much everyone as a metal used in jewelry but in the colloidal form it has long been used as an anti-microbial agent in both industrial and health related products. Although it has been shown safe to be used topically on the skin there have been a few unfortunate cases of colloidal silver …
I’m very excited to announce the first Skin Savers Competition! Alize skin care are providing one Alize: Oily & Problematic Skin Pack to give away on Skin Savers to the value of $139. The pack contains one full sized Deep Cleansing Mousse 150ml, one Corrective Oil Control Lotion 150ml and one Balance Gel 30ml. For the competition they also gave me a separate sample of the Deep Cleansing Mousse to review. I have been using it recently because my skin has had a bit of acne and needs deep cleansing (I can’t believe I still get pimples at my age, not fair!). Cleansing is essential for maintaining healthy skin, and the most effective types are cream and mousse cleansers. One …
First off I want to say that you should never use an exfolliant or scrub on an eczema flare-up, never, ever. Skin in an irritated, broken or sensitive condition doesn’t need to have skin cells scrapped of it. That said, sensitive skins can sometimes benefit from scrubs that slough away the dead skin cells, but only when their skin is in a relatively robust state to begin with. Weekly exfolliation can help rejuvenate the outer layers of the skin and prevent the build up of dead skin cells that can contribute to itch. It can also help control acne by clearing clogged pores and help dull or dry skin by getting rid of dead skin cells.. If you have …
