Skin Basics: Face & Body Wash
If you have sensitive or reactive skin you probably know by now that using soap is a big no-no. Fortunately there are lots of soap free washes available on the market to use instead. One of these is Skin Basics Face and Body Wash. It is a soap free and pH balanced wash that I’ve been using for some time with no adverse effects. Unlike most soap free cleansers this one actually foams up which I like a lot. A small amount creates a nice foamy lather and really cleanses the skin effectively. I don’t actually use this on my face however, I stick to using it on my body as a soap replacement as I prefer face cleansers that are designed specifically for the face. I’m not sure if this is just a quirk of mine but a product designed just for the face just appeals to me more for that purpose, as facial skin is invariably more sensitive than body skin. Even so, I don’t think this would be too bad to use as a face cleanser as It does seem to be very gentle. It is completely scent free (at least to my nose) and by that I mean it doesn’t really smell like anything, not that it simply has no added fragrance. Although I do like some scented body wash, if you have delicate skin it is sometimes not worth the risk, especially if you’re undergoing some kind of flare up or irritation. On irritated skin this was fine; it didn’t exacerbate the problem at all and I felt comfortable using it on dry or cracked skin. It is also quite an economical product cost wise and also because you don’t have to use large amounts of it for it to cleanse effectively. It is one shower wash that I feel is a good neutral alternative to soap and is available in quite a few stores in Australia (and perhaps overseas too but I haven’t had the opportunity to check that). I would recommend this for skin prone to irritation from soap, and even on current skin irritations, it’s a nice mild cleanser in my opinion. If you like Cetaphil, but prefer a foaming cleanser then this is definitely for you.
