Clarins make some nice products for sensitive skin, I particularly like their cleansers. Having some success with those (and their UVA/B sun block) I wanted to try one of their moisturizers.
The multi-active day cream is a nice light cream. As with other clarins products a very little goes a long way. Just a little dab of this cream covers a lot of skin, it has a very soft sheer consistency that glides on really nicely. That said, this particular cream for ‘all skin types’ doesn’t quite give me as much hydration I would need on the dry areas of my skin, it would probably be more accurate to say this was more for normal skin types than all skin …

Most of the reviews I post here tend to be positive. When I find something good I want to share it, but if something doesn’t work too well for me (or if I have a bad reaction to it) I often assume that different people might not react in the same way. However, the same would apply to products I like – they might not be great for everyone. I am keeping this in mind as I review this cleanser and moisturizer from Ren (that has been great) as I have heard a few stories where it is not suitable for some people.
I decided to try both the Ren hydra-calming cleanser and day cream after a recommendation from a mecca …

A few months ago I started eating less and less vegetables – and you know what? I started getting cystic acne, the kind of acne that starts under the skin. There are two broad types of acne (by cause). One is the type of acne that you get from not cleansing the skin well enough and these pimples tend to emerge as blocked pores. Cystic acne on the other hand develops deep under the skin, is more painful and is caused by more internal factors such as diet, hormones and stress. There is one thing that is well known – vitamin A in large doses is an effective treatment against this type of internal acne. In fact the prescribed …

The Clarins daily energizer cream and cleanser are made with young skin in mind – to refresh and tone the complexion. They are not the most hydrating products around and I would make the disclaimer that they are best suited to normal to oily skin types. That said they are lovely to use and really do make the skin feel fresh and rejuvenated. First up the cleanser is wonderful. It is a soft gel that lathers up a little and cleanses very thoroughly. The cream gel is more like a regular moisturizing cream than a gel although it is on the light side so the gel part is appropriate.
The best thing about the energizer cream and cleanser is the lovely …

I must admit most of the clarins creams I’ve tried so far tend to be not hydrating enough for dry skins. That’s mainly due to the ones I’ve tried, the hydraquench range however is made to hydrate all skin types including dry or very dry skins. This particular product from the hydraquench line, the cooling gel cream is a summer favorite of mine and even though it is for normal to combination skin types I find it provides enough moisture for dry skin too. It is the most ideal skincare to use in really hot climates, perhaps only second to Skinfoods cucumber and lettuce jelly. I always keep a jar of it in the fridge for the extra cooling …
