Nuxe: cleansing water for face and eyes

8 April 2010 Tags: , , , , , 2 Comments

I used this when I first converted to wipe-off cleansers rather than washing my face with water. At the time my skin was sensitive and dry and the change did it good. I used this to both cleanse and remove make up, which it did nicely. Because i had no problems with it initially I bought another bottle after I had run out. After about half way through using the second bottle I found that it began to sting my skin. I switched to Avene’s micellar lotion and had no more problems, but I prefer Biodermas Crealine H20. Recently I revisited the nuxe cleansing water and it still stings my skin and leaves it red, especially if I’m not extra gentle when wiping it off. Since then I’ve gone off it, as is understandable. If there are wipe off cleansers that don’t make my skin red and irritated then I will use them! I’m not sure why this was fine on my sensitive skin to begin with and then wasn’t, perhaps it went off, perhaps my skin became sensitized to it, I’m not sure but I suspect that it is not the most gentle of cleansers and there are many better out there for sensitive skin. In its defense it does say ‘for all skin types’ on the bottle and is not necessarily labeled as made for sensitive skin. Lastly, I should mention to avoid using this on the eye area as it will sting (whether you have sensitive skin or not). Because it irritated my skin (after some time mind you) I can only give this 2 stars, one for the lovely smell and the other for being the first effective wipe-off cleanser I have tried. **

I was thinking to give Nuxe a try while ago but eventually called off the mind. Most of their product contains essential oil and many essential oil actually irritating to sensitive skin.

Yes exactly, I can use them when my skin is going through a ‘robust’ phase. It’s probably why they all smell so lovely though!
