Missha: perfect cover b.b. cream
B.B creams are a new kind of all-in-one cream from Korea. BB stands for blemish balm, although these creams tend to be more like a cream or a foundation than a balm. By all-in-one they are meant to 1. moisturize the skin 2. while covering like a foundation and 3. providing sun protection 4. heal acne and 5. anti-aging care. They also claim to lighten the skin tone, but I think that is mostly through the make up coverage and perhaps by helping to heal redness as well. BB creams are also formulated to be gentle to sensitive skin; the story goes that they were designed for use after laser resurfacing procedures. Missha seems to be one of the top bb cream brands and I have tried their perfect cover cream no. 21. I have used it over a serum only and found that my skin felt a little tight and dry for a while, but not irritated at all. Using it on top of a more moisturizing cream is recommended. Compared to previous days when I had only used moisturizer I notice that with this on, my skin is less allergic to dust and pet fur. It provides a nice protective barrier. The colour is not perfect for me, I do detect a grey undertone which is never very flattering (grey=corpse), but perhaps it is there to compensate for reddish hues in the skin from inflammation? Using a bronzer or blush on top seems to get rid of the grey look.
As for the feel, it is great. My skin feels smooth and the coverage of imperfections is fairly good. It does tend to be on the dry side which is good for controlling oil around the t-zone but might not suit very dry skin types. For something that combines SPF, moisturizer and foundation so well BB creams are a great economical product. This particular one is great for conditioning and protecting the skin but the color may not suit everyone. The color range is limited (to 3 i think) I recommend trying out the colors out in store if you can. ***1/2.
