L’Occitane: Shea Ultra rich face cream

L’occitane is a product line that I like, although I think it is a bit expensive for what it is. Their products go more for the ‘nice smell’ angle rather than the targeted skin care. I’ve tried their body washes, lotions and body moisturizers and they are all quite nice and do usually smell fantastic (I recommend the Citrus Verbena Sorbet Body Cream, it’s smells good enough to eat).
The Shea butter ultra rich facial cream is not a disappointment. It is ‘ultra rich’, the thick creamy texture does feel rich on the skin and does a good job of sealing in moisture. I have had a few issues with skin reactions to this. Most days It is beautiful and soothing but occasionally I’ve found this can sting and leave the skin a little irritated. I’m not sure whether this is a random occurance or if it has something to do with interactions with some other product I’m using. I suspect it has something to do with skin sensitization over time as it was fine when first using (the first two jars I went through).
Overall i would give this a try of you have very dry skin that needs a good moisture hit but isn’t very reactive. If your skin is very reactive this might still be okay for you, but it might be worth looking into a more sensitive deep moisture cream such as Avene’s Hydrance Optimale Rich Hydrating Cream or cold cream.
