One of the yummiest smelling things I’ve ever come across is Lush’s catastrophe cosmetic face mask. It smells just like blueberries, which isn’t surprising since is packed chock a block with them giving it a deep purple colour. I use masks only when my skin is feeling dry, irritated or overly congested. Because of that I want a mask to have soothing, rehydrating or clearing properties. This particular clay mask is perfect for soothing and clearing congested skin, but will not leave it very hydrated. For rehydration I recommend other moisture locking-in masks like those by Avene or Clinique. That said, this is really a good mask for clogged and irritated skin. The clay really gets in and cleanses deeply …
To celebrate two years of posting reviews here on SkinSavers I’ve decided to create a list of my all time favorite skincare products. These are the products to beat in 2011, as I try new things I usually compare them to these favorites. The categories are; best eczema emollient cream, eczema wash, sensitive skin cleanser, sensitive skin moisturizer, make up remover and best make up. I’ve also added a category for best general purpose skin healing product for when skin is raw, irritated or otherwise damaged. All of my top picks are made with people with sensitive or problematic skin in mind, with an extra emphasis on products that are suitable for rosacea, eczema, dry and reactive skin. I’ll talk …
Okay, I’ve had a few weeks break from my Skinsavers reviews here to work on a big writing project. That’s nearly done so I am back to my regular reviews starting with an amazing, HG face cream that I want to review first. I also haven’t posted for a while because I have been so happy with this cream that I haven’t tried many others. My major skin concerns at the moment are irritation, redness, a few pimples, dryness and combination skin (dry and oily areas). For this reason I have difficulty finding creams and skincare that meet all these needs at once. Usually I tend to shuffle between different products depending on what my skin needs most at the …
Yes, Skinfood is definitely my favorite BB cream brand (of the one’s I’ve tried so far that is!). Although I have a bit of a gripe with the colours available I love the way it protects my skin from the sun and environmental allergens without exacerbating oiliness or spots. My problem with the colours is that there are only two available and neither suit my skin tone. They have light and dark, the light is very ghostly pale and the dark is for naturally dark skin tones of which I am neither. I do think that the tones where designed with Asian skintones in mind, which does make sense given this is a Singaporean skincare brand. Anyway, I still use …
This year I’ve been trying a few of these single-use face masks for giving the skin an extra hydrating boost. I put them on at night just as I go to sleep and let them skin in for 10-15 minutes before taken them off and roll over to sleep. The first thing I noted when I first used them was the odd shape of the mask. They are basically light cloth-like material with holes for the mouth, eyes and nose and also some slits on the side to contour them to the face.Obviously everyone has a slightly different shaped face and head so they have tried to design these masks to be able to fit everyone. Unfortunately they don’t …
