Amina: Concealer Cream Compact

3 June 2010 Tags: , , No Comment

Amina make mineral make up free of fragrance, talc’s, dyes, mineral oils, synthetic colours, parabens and preservatives. It is sublimely good for sensitive skin for this reason. Mineral makeup does wonders for all kinds of skin issues; from spots, to rosacea, oiliness to dryness and more. It effectively balances out skin tone and provides a protective barrier during the day. Another benefit is that zinc based sun protection is usually better tolerated by those with sensitive skin.
Amina actually make more than mineral foundation powder, they also do eye and lip makeup, primers, blushes and concealers. The cream concealer by Amina is the first sample I tested. It comes in a paste/cream (similar to other concealers) rather than a loose powder which is good for controlling where it goes. You tend to want concealers for only specific regions of the skin so a paste is much easier to control than a powder would be. However that can be achieved with a powder too with the right tools. Amina’s cream concealer is the first natural, mineral based one I have tried. Compared to the more mainstream types I’ve tried it has a similar staying power, and does an equally good job of masking imperfections. One thing I actually prefer about Amina’s concealer is that I can even use it more liberally on red cheeks or under the eyes and it never looks caky or uneven. Since I’ve swapped to mineral make up I have noticed I no longer get any caky, flaky make-up (which can happen with liquid foundations if your skin is dry or hasn’t been exfoliated). This can happen with cream concealers to, but not with this one. It remained smooth all day and stayed put, which was great. My skin also felt great with it on, if I cover a spot, it doesn’t necessarily feel like it’s suffocating, the skin still feels like it can breath which is good. If you’re using make-up to cover imperfections and blemishes you definitely don’t want it to contribute to more blemishes! This is great because natural minerals do not clog pores.
Amina provides some tips for using their concealer on their website: “Use the self applicator sponge and press and roll onto skin to help minimize pores. Feather and blend it along the hairline and jawline. The Mineral Foundation & Concealer Creme Compact can be used alone and as a touch up over liquid or powder foundation or tinted moisturizer.”
Until I tried Amina I had no idea that a mineral cream concealer was available, it’s a great addition to any mineral-makeup collection, especially if you need a little extra coverage of specific places every now and then. It comes in three shades, beige, apricot and honey, and these shades blend well into pretty much most skin shades.

By the way, I do believe that Amina is holding a June sale with up to 50% off selected items, do give them a visit to check it out here: Amina Cosmetics Home Page .
